Policy on Absences

If a student is unable to attend a class, please give the office a call to let us know your child will be absent OR email our Attendance Staff at absence@stjamesfaith.org. Absences in excess of THREE (3) during the course of the year, even though they may be excused for legitimate reasons, must be made up by the student in special make up work. This may include, but is not limited to, additional assignments or Mass Reflections, or attending extra classes. All lessons and homework must be completed as assigned. Incomplete and unsatisfactory work must be made up before promotion to the next level. Early dismissals are for emergencies only. If excessive, could jeopardize promotion.

School Regulations

The students are permitted to enter the building 20 minutes before the start of class – (Use back door only. Please do not use front door). Parents must report to the office (Room 116) when picking up a student before dismissal time. Early dismissal should be for family emergencies ONLY. If early dismissals begin to add up, you will need to have a conference with the Faith Formation staff to come up with a solution to the problem.

Mass Attendance and Mass Reflections

All students are expected to attend weekly Mass in addition to the special liturgies planned throughout the year for their level.

Students preparing to receive a Sacrament (Levels 2, 7 and8) are required to complete a certain number of Mass Reflections as part of their Sacrament Preparation.

Students in Levels 1, 3, 4 and 5 are highly encouraged to complete Mass Reflections as well to supplement their in-class instruction.

Students in Level 6 are recommended to complete Mass Reflections in order to deepen their understanding and familiarity with the expectations of Sacrament Preparation.

Parent/Guardian involvement is essential to the success of the Faith Formation of our children. It is imperative that families attend our Parent Meetings to continue growing our partnership as we work together. Please check emails for dates of meetings.
