Scouts

Troop 689 serves boys 10 – 18 years old. Meetings are held once a week to promote service to community, family and friends. Boys also learn life skills and the importance of helping others. Become involved by contacting individuals on the Leader List.

Cub Scout Pack 689

Cub Scouts are the younger arm of the Boy Scouts of America. The program is designed to prepare young boys to make ethical and moral decisions through their lifetime by instilling in them citizenship and character values. Our leaders / mentors / volunteers are Virtus trained as well as comprehensive role specific trained from the Boy Scouts of America.

Knights of Columbus

The Msgr. William A. Delaney Knights of Columbus is a service organization of Catholic men who support the Catholic Church through charity, spirituality, unity and fraternity. They raise money for Catholic charitable causes concerned with the welfare of families, communities, and the church. They provide religious, family and social activities and fundraisers such as the Coats for Kids Program, Good News Hour, Parish Family Picnic, and the Parish Carnival. The Knights of Columbus is open to Catholic men 18 years or older, who are committed to making their community a better place while supporting St. James Church. Columbiettes

A Columbiette Auxiliary is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council. One of its purposes is to aid the Council spiritually, socially and financially in all its endeavors. The primary requirements to be a member of this organization is to be a Catholic female in good standing with her parish and to be 17 years of age or older. Secondary purposes include the spiritual, social and charitable welfare of their members.

Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Inc.

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians’ (LAOH) motto is Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity and the patron saint is Saint Brigid of Ireland. Membership is open to practicing Roman Catholics who are Irish by descent, adopted, a wife or mother, or a member of a religious order. Through their charitable activities, they support Columban Fathers and Sisters and scholarship funds for seminaries. Our division (7) meets the second Wednesday evening of the month at St. James. Book Nook

The Book Nook serves the need for Catholic religious items and spiritual books. Also available are gifts and cards for First Communions, Confirmation, weddings, and other memorable occasions.

Blood Drive

Our parish works with Long Island Blood Services and hosts several blood donation drives at the parish center throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to call parishioners / residents, give out flyers to various stores in the area to inform them of upcoming blood drives and also to help the day of the event.
